Explore our guide to learn more about different tent types, how to size a tent, and landscape requirement.
Step 1: Select the type
For most short-term tent rentals, we’ll recommend a peak top tent. Peak top tents have a classic look and can be staked directly into grass or asphalt. (They’re also your most budget-friendly choice.) Peak top tents are available in 3 sizes, 10×10, 10×20, 20×20. These tents can stand alone or be connected to make a larger size to fit your venue and guest perfectly.
Suggested use for Peak Top Tents

Standard Frame canopies and tents feature a hip roof to create an open and elegant look, which is convenient for hanging chandeliers, lighting and draping. They are perfect for weddings, graduations, corporate events, or any outdoor gathering. Canopies offer an open shaded space for any event. Available in 5 sizes, 40×40, 40×100.
Suggested use for Canopy Tents
- Outdoor weddings
- Corporate events
- Company parties
- Alumni events
- Concerts
- Long or short term industrial use
- Sporting events
If your location doesn’t allow stakes you can add on water barrels to secure your tent. White sidewalls are also available for extra charge.
Step 2: Estimate a Tent Size
You don’t have to figure out exactly what size tent you need – call us and we’ll take care of that!
But it’s helpful to know:
- How many guests will attend?
- What type of tables and seating do you plan for?
- Is the meal served or buffet-style?
- Will there be a dance floor?
- Will you have a head table?
- What about a cake table and/or a gift table?
Step 3: Measure Your Open Space
You’ll need a tent footprint with no decks, overhanging trees or shrubs, or other obstacles. Do you have enough open space for your tent?
- Measure the flat area where you’ll put the tent.
- Do you plan on stakes or water barrels, add roughly 5’ to each side for set-up/staking. If you want a 20’ x 20’ tent, you’ll need an area that’s at least 30’ x 30’.
Step 4: Contact St George Party Rentals
We are happy to help you configure and plan out your event! We’d recommend that you reserve your tent rentals as soon as you’ve selected the date. The tent is a hugely important part of any outdoor event – after all, it’s your venue!
